The best place to buy clothes in Bangkok, guarantee lowest price in town and cheaper can get cheaper if you buy more than 3 pieces.
I went to Pratunam, Bangkok last month on 28/09/2014. I stayed in Lemontea Hotel http://www.lemonteahotel.com
Pros of staying in this hotel:
- 7-11 just few steps away
- massage center 5 minutes walking distance
- Pratunam approx 10 minutes walking distance
Cons:
- BTS station is far away, the nearest station to this hotel is Ratchathewi Station, from there, you may take a cab for about 40baht
- if you want to take cab or tut-tut to Siam area or Platinum mum area, you might have to negotiate with the driver, i spent 80baht for just one way (for tut tut; not sure about cab).
From Lemontea to DMK airport, it costs me 260baht. Sometimes, they might not use meter, else reception will tell you what price would you like to pay if they are not using meter, i think 350baht is a fair price, approx 35 minutes driving distance.
I read from blog, it says Pratunam Market open as early as 5am till 5pm. But i personally suggest if you go there just for shopping purpose; not for wholesale, you can be there around 1030 morning, walk slowly and by that time all the shop will open.
I have been to Bangkok for more than 5 times and had experience shopping in Platinum, Jatujak or along the street. I found that shopping for clothes in Pratunam is the cheapest; of course cheap can get cheaper if you buy more than 3 pieces. You must be wondering why not Jatujak market the cheapest? If you observe closely, clothes in Jatujak range from 150baht to 300baht, but if you are looking for things other than clothes, such as accessories, decoration, bag or pouch, you may go there and is an eye opening experience to see a lot of designer products.
Tips of shopping in bangkok:
- when they say ‘wholesale’, no more bargain
- bring a bag pack or trolley bag, it could be exhausted if you are carrying a hand bag and sling bag with all your shopping stuff inside
- stay hydrated, but no worries, you can easily find a place to buy water
- for ladies, no heavy make up, unless your make up is
sweat proof, otherwise you will look awful when your make up melt - we all know that shorts is cheap over there, especially the jeans. Know your size before you buy, because no trying is allow. Know your waist size as well as your thigh.
